Car Accident Lawyer in Dubai — Compensation Claims, Insurance Disputes & Your Rights

A car accident in Dubai can happen in seconds. What follows — the police report, the insurance claim, the medical treatment, the time off work — can take months and affect your finances and wellbeing far longer than the accident itself. Many people in Dubai do not realise how strong their legal rights are after a road traffic accident. Or that insurance companies routinely underpay claims — counting on the fact that most victims do not know what they are entitled to.
At DADA Legal Consultants FZ-LLC, our car accident team advises and represents accident victims across Dubai. We handle everything from initial insurance claims and SANADAK complaints through to personal injury compensation proceedings in Dubai Courts. We have been doing this for over twelve years, and we start with a free consultation — because you should understand your rights before you commit to anything.

Car Accident Law in Dubai — How Compensation Works

Car accident compensation in Dubai is governed by UAE Traffic Law No. 14 of 2024 and the UAE Civil Code — most recently updated by Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, which came into force on 1 June 2026 and significantly expanded the scope of civil compensation available in serious and fatal accident cases.
Under UAE law, if another driver's negligence caused your accident, you are entitled to claim compensation for your losses from their insurer through the third-party liability (TPL) system. If you hold comprehensive insurance, your own insurer may handle your vehicle damage claim — but compensation for personal injury, loss of income, and pain and suffering requires a separate legal claim.
The compensation you can claim after a car accident in Dubai typically includes: repair or replacement cost for your vehicle, medical expenses including future treatment, loss of income during recovery, pain and suffering (moral damages), permanent disability compensation where applicable, and in fatal cases, Diya (blood money) of AED 200,000 plus additional civil damages for the family.

ACCIDENT CLAIM GUIDANCE

What to Do Immediately After a Car Accident in Dubai

The actions you take immediately after a road traffic accident can significantly affect liability findings, insurance coverage, and the value of any compensation claim.

01

Call Dubai Police — 999 – Step 1

Do not move either vehicle until the police arrive and issue an accident report. This is not optional — the police report (and the DR number it contains) is the legal foundation of your insurance claim and any compensation action. Moving vehicles before police attendance can complicate or invalidate your claim.

02

Seek medical attention immediately – Step 2

Even if injuries feel minor, get a medical assessment the same day. Injuries such as whiplash, soft tissue damage, and concussion may not present immediately. A medical report dated close to the accident date is critical evidence — delays in getting treatment create gaps that insurers exploit to minimise claims.

03

Document everything at the scene – Step 3

Photograph vehicle positions, damage to all vehicles, road conditions, traffic signs, tyre marks, and any visible injuries. Get the other driver's name, Emirates ID, vehicle registration number, and insurance details. Note any witnesses and, if possible, take their contact information.

04

Do not admit fault – Step 4

Fault in Dubai road accidents is determined by the Traffic Police based on the accident report and scene evidence — not by admissions at the scene. Do not say sorry, do not agree to a private settlement without legal advice, and do not sign any insurer documents without understanding what they mean.

05

Notify your insurer – Step 5

Most UAE insurance policies require you to notify the insurer promptly after an accident. Report the accident — but do not make detailed statements to any insurer, yours or the other party's, without first taking legal advice. What you say in early communications can affect your claim value.

06

Contact a car accident lawyer – Step 6

Before accepting any settlement offer, signing any insurer document, or closing your claim — speak with a car accident lawyer. Once a settlement is accepted, your right to further compensation is typically extinguished. We assess your full entitlement before you commit to anything.

Yes. The Dubai Police accident report and DR number are mandatory for insurance claims and legal proceedings. Without them, insurers will not process the claim.

Compensation may include vehicle repairs, medical expenses, lost income, disability-related losses, pain and suffering, and in fatal cases, Diya plus additional civil damages.

You can escalate the matter through SANADAK, the UAE Insurance Ombudsman. If necessary, disputes may proceed to the IDSRC or court proceedings.

Generally, a three-year limitation period applies to civil claims. However, insurance policies often require much earlier notification, so prompt action is strongly recommended.

Yes. UAE courts apply contributory negligence, meaning compensation may still be awarded based on the other party's share of responsibility.

Special procedures apply to uninsured and hit-and-run accidents. Legal remedies may still be available, and professional legal advice is recommended immediately.

While not mandatory, a lawyer can help maximise compensation, challenge unfair insurer decisions, and ensure that all available damages are properly claimed.
